Paris Terrorist Attack Foiled: Man In ‘Suicide Vest’ Shot Dead On Charlie Hebdo Anniversary

Police stopped what could’ve been another terrible tragedy in Paris on the one year anniversary of the deadly Charlie Hebdo shootings. A man wearing what appeared to be a suicide vest was shot and killed outside a police station on Jan. 6, and the situation is being investigated as a potential terrorist attack.

So scary. A man attempted to enter a police station in northern Paris on Jan. 6 wearing what looked like a suicide vest. Officials shot and killed the potential terrorist, but it terrifyingly all went down exactly one year after 12 people were killed at the Charlie Hebdo offices in the same city.
The man was shouting “Allahu Akbar” while trying to enter the building, and was allegedly threatening officers with a knife. His belt was made to look like a suicide vest, but it has reportedly been confirmed as fake by a bomb-disposal unit. “The man did have a belt, but it was fake,” a police union source said. “The bomb-disposal unit confirmed it was a fake.”
Scarily, this act is being viewed as “more likely terrorism,” rather than just a standard criminal act, a Paris police official adds. A nearby witness reported hearing 2-3 shots right before 11 am, and then the man was on the ground.
It has been a horrifying year for Paris, and this likely attack took place one year after two brothers made their way into the Charlie Hebdo newspaper offices in the city with rifles and other weapons, killing 12 innocent people and injuring 11 more. Related attacks followed, killing five more and injuring 11 others.
